Joseph Gamble

Joseph A. Gamble, 82 of Mechanicsville, died Thursday evening in his home from a brief illness. Services 10:30 a.m., Monday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon Chapel, where friends may call Sunday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the chapel. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Joe is survived by two sons: Mike of Columbia, Missouri and Steven and his wife Linda and two grandchildren; Lisa and Brad Gamble of Corpus Christi, Texas, and a dear friend Lela Hayslett of Tipton. Preceding Joe in death were his parents, his wife, and two bothers: Maurice and Louis. Joe was born in Lisbon, March 24, 1922, the son of Roy and Barbara Svoboda Gamble. He graduated from Lisbon High School, and married Marilyn E. Tenley Feb. 17, 1946 at Stanwood. Marilyn died Dec. 16, 1991. He owned and operated Gamble Feed and Produce in Mechanicsville, and later became district supervisor of Kent Feeds until his retirement. He took great pride in serving his customers. A memorial fund in Joe's honor has been established to the Mechanicsville Fire Volunteers, 100 E. First Street, Mechanicsville, IA 52306.
