John Crumbaugh

John Lewis Crumbaugh 96, of Freeport, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 in Brazoport Regional Health Care Facility, Lake Jackson, Texas, from heart failure. Graveside services 2:00 p.m., Thursday October 12, 2006, at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Arrangements by Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. John is survived by two sons: Donald of Marion and John (Lois) of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Preceding John in death were his parents, three brothers: Darrell, Carl, and Robert, three sisters: LaDonna Bartlett, Margaret Gable, and Namoi Kepler, his first wife Berniece, his second wife Genevieve, and a daughter-in-law Carol Crumbaugh. John was born July 5, 1910 at Norman, Oklahoma, the son of Walter and Blanche Peters Crumbaugh. He graduated from Whitten Iowa High School in 1929. He married Berniece Simonds. They were divorced. He married Genevieve Luke. She died January 1, 1999. He was a tool and die maker at New Era Industries and Square D., and retired in 1965 after ten years from Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids as a maintenance machinist. John was a past member of the Machinists Union. He moved to Houston and to Freeport, Texas in 1967. Before moving to Texas, he was an active member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club of Cedar Rapids. John will always be remembered for his love of baseball, bowling, and beer.
