Jo Martin, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Manor Care, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. ' 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Wilcox Cemetery, Anamosa.
Survivors include her son, Dennis; and many friends.
Jo Anne Martin was born July 3, 1937, in Boulder, Colorado, to Joseph and Elfried (Kaufman) Hayden. She attended Viola Consolidated School and Coe College, where she received her Bachelor's in English and Teaching Certification. Jo taught first grade at Cedar Rapids Community Schools for 33 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Echo Hill Presbyterian Church, and NEA-ISEA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Duane.
