Jeremiah Lee Meek, 31, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, September 26, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. A farewell memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Ellis Park. Please bring your own chairs. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Colleen and Craig Strait of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Bobbi Jo of Wichita, Kansas, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Dean Rife. Jeremiah had many accomplishments, but his greatest one was his caring soul. He was one of the Great Spirits; angels flying too low to the ground and now he is flying around us all with the other angels. Fly free like and eagle. He will be greatly missed by all. i was one of the kaplan nursing students who took care of jer at st. luke’s. he was a great patient, and had a great personality when i worked with him. i know he will be missed by members of his family and people he has touched in his life.
I knew Jay(as I called him)for a few short years but he never failed to make me laugh or at least smile. He was a very loving and caring person and a good friend. And yes he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
