Janice (Jan) L. Mudd, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died after a long illness on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4420 Center Point Road NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with a church luncheon following the service.
Jan is survived by her children, Sheralee Mudd, Shelly Bromwich (Mark), and Steve Mudd (Sandi) and her brother, Jan (Rayleen) Erickson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrea, Mia, Zach, Jake, Ryan, Hailey, Janie, and Jenna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Mudd; her parents, Ernie and Ruth Erickson; her sister, Jackie Cody; and her brothers, Jerry Erickson and Jim Erickson.
Jan was born to Ernest and Ruth (Rux) Erickson in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, on October 12, 1937. She graduated from Newton High School in 1955. Jan married the love of her life, Dale Mudd on August 27, 1960. They were married until Dale's untimely death in 1983.
She was a proud member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church for 50 years. Jan's faith was very important to her. She worked as the Health Secretary at Kennedy High School from 1985 to 2003. Jan loved spending time with her friends and family. She will be missed.

Jan was a wonderful neighbor and so talented. She helped me so many times with my kiddos. I always enjoyed being with her. I’m glad that Lisa and I went to visit her recently. My sincere sympathy to her loved ones. Rest in peace dear friend.

How lucky we were to have Jan as our caring neighbor for the early years of our lives, and a friend forever. She was beautiful and gracious, a compassionate listener and a good storyteller. She raised her children to be people of exceptional character. She was loved by all who knew her. I am sad for her loss and will always remember her. Love and condolences to her entire family.
