  6. Jan & I served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, CVA 63 during the Vietnam conflict. He was a favorite friend and we had many good & bad experiences together. The photo was during a good time in Subic Bay, Philippines 1965. The difficult times were working long hours in miserable conditions. It was good to see Jan and his wife Deb at a reunion in KC. I’m very sad to know, just today, that Jan has passed away. May the good Lord favor you Jan, thanks for your friendship, and Thank-you for honorably serving your country. RIP my friend

  7. Jan was my uncle. He was always there for all of us, and always calling to see how things were going. I always enjoyed the memories he shared of the family when they were all kids!! He enjoyed coming out to visit when ever we camped and always brought his corn cobs to burn. I taught him a few slang words, whenever I called him he’d answer “What Up?” He was a great person and will be missed by many!! He is now with my Dad watching over all of us.

  8. Jan was not just a friend, He was a best friend. He was a friend of 50 + years. Although we lived in different states, every time I came back to Cedar Rapids he was the 1st one I called. We would ride around and tell stories of the old days. We would talk for hours about everything and still keep the conversation lively. We had so many laughs together that my stomach hurt after I had to say good by and go home. I’m going to miss you so much Jan because you were not just a friend, you were a True Friend!

Lovingly, Sue Hird Pregler and family.

  11. To The Schumachers We are sorry we are missing the funeral. Jan was a kind and funny soul and will be missed.

  12. Deb, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I didn’t hear about Jan’s passing until I returned from vacation so I missed the visitation and the service. You know I would have been there to represent the Warren family (Vic & Joyce) and to tell you in person what a big part Jan was in it. I’m glad I got to see you both on the Laughlin trip. Jan will be missed by many.
