James Lee Chambers was born February 7, 1937, in Gary, Indiana, to Erdis and Earma (Brazil) Chambers, and was raised in Arkansas. James married Margaret Nichols on July 4, 1991, in Marion. He was a skilled mechanic, most recently working for Corridor Motors. James was always working on cars, even outside of work, and made sure his kids knew the basic maintenance skills. If someone needed car repairs but couldn't afford them, James would work with them to help. He was a generous person who often thought of others before himself. James enjoyed hunting deer in Arkansas and fishing in the area, including near Hills and Cedar Lake. James was a feisty firecracker of a guy, and could spin a good story.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Destiny Wright; brothers, Eddie and Bobby Ray; sister, Carol; good friend, Bobby Frazier; and dogs, Butch and Tiffany.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Thank you so much Dad for being the father I needed in my life. As long as there’s breath in my lungs you will never be forgotten Love you
I had the pleasure of working with James at Frank’s Tree Service. It was usually just me in the office and he’d be out in the shop cleaning or fixing something. He would often come into the office and chat and just ask how everything in my life was doing. James had the absolute biggest heart and he was always willing to help anybody and everybody. This saddens me so much and he will definitely be missed by all who him. RIP My dear friend. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. They’ve lost a true gem but he’ll be waiting at the Heavenly gates with open arms when y’all see him again.
James was truly one of the best people I know One time I talked him into Following Me to Iowa City because I felt my car was going to break down sure enough the engine caught on fire and he saved the day By fixing the problem at the gas station and followed me back home He helped me out so many times on the cars . James was the best of the best when it came to working on cars and life he loved his job and he loved helping people he will truly be missed by so many who knew him
I Am very grateful for the times I got to spend with James over the years and thankful for all the memories I will cherish forever.Rest in peace grasshopper, gone but not forgotten.
I will always cherish the last couple of conversations I had with you and I’m very grateful for all the laughs tears smiles through it all you showed me to be proud of who I am and to always help someone in need and to do it from the heart I watched over the years the mistakes you made but more importantly the ones you fixed and that love and forgiveness can mend all things and that you just have to try I’m still at a loss knowing you’re no longer here with us in the physical form but you will forever be in my heart hope that you’re smiling down on us and are proud of all of us kids until I see you again I love you DAD!
