Henrietta Hekl Klouda, 100, died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, IA. Services will begin with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Morgan Funeral Choices in Mount Vernon. Burial St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Rapids at 1:30 p.m. Surviving Henrietta are two daughters: Irene and Bill Novak and Jean Zach both of Ely; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 9 step great-great grandchildren; and 5 step great-great-great grandchildren. Preceding Henrietta in death are her husband, a brother Milo Hekl, sisters: Olga Short and Lottie Louvar, a son-in-law Adolph Zach, a great granddaughter, and one step great-great granddaughter. Henrietta was born August 10, 1913 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Anna Pesina Hekl. After high school graduation from Washington High School in January of 1932, she married Henry Klouda, June 21, 1932. The couple settled on a farm in Norway and later moved to the Ely area where they farmed. She worked at Armstrong's Department Store for many years. Henrietta and Henry bought Hank's Tavern in Ely where Henrietta cooked until their retirement. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a charter member of the Blue Willow Club for Ladies and a site manager for Senior Dining in Ely.
