Guy Holly

Guy Sherman Holly, 81, passed away at Mechanicsville Specialty Care on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Per Guy's requests, there will be no services. Survivors include his daughters, Yoby Holly and Tamara (Mark) Elgin; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Linnie Southard; half-brother, Rand Southard; and many beloved extended relatives. Guy was born December 11, 1934, in Stacy Texas, to Guy Ivy and Molly Bernice (Hamrick) Holly. He graduated from high school in Texas, then joined the Navy. After serving diligently in the Navy, he returned to the States to study computer science in Washington D.C., for Burroughs Corporation for over 20 years. He later worked in oil manufacturing in Texas, and as a carpenter in Iowa. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, but especially water activities like fishing and boating. He was a mindful hunter, and loved spending time in Alaska. Guy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brent; and beloved pet, Dawg.
