Survivors include her daughter, Bernita and husband Arlin Ginsburg of Williamsburg, Virginia, and son, Jon and wife Sharyl Kopecky of Marion; two granddaughters, Stacey (Ron) Reints of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Kellie Kopecky of Ames, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Keegan, Hanna, and Reece Reints; nephew, Roger Pardun of Sioux City, Iowa; and a niece, Pat Kolarik of Kansas City, Kansas. Georgia was born on October 30, 1912, in rural Ely, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Isabel (Hovorka) Hartl. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1929, and went on to graduate from Mt. Mercy Junior College. She taught school for four years at Lime Creek School, a one-room school near Brandon, before getting married to Joseph Kopecky on June 6, 1935. Georgia's greatest pride was her garden and flower beds and watching over her farm animals. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Georgia was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Agnes.
We have had the privilege of taking care of Georgia since January 2012 in our Elder Group Home. She has been a joy. Its very quiet around here now. She told alot of funny jokes and with every conversation we had she would keep us laughing. I will miss her help with the garden this spring. Last year we planted over 600 onion sets and she planted each one (w/help) We all feel like we’ve lost a member of our family. That’s all you have to do is say her name and we all smile. Take care Georgia and say Hi to your Mom, Dad & husband from all of us here at Park Setting. We’ll miss you.

We have many good memories of Georgia and the Kopecky family. One that we remember is the time we were invited for home made ice cream. Georgia will be missed. She was/is such a gracious lady. We know she has her place in heaven.
I have many wonderful memories of this Special lady from our years of living in the same neighborhood. I especially remember her leadership in our 4-H years and those garden tours and the trip to Ames with her to visit Bernita and many more. Blessings to the family at this time of her passing. She surely has a place prepared for her in Heaven.
