Francis Woodrow Boat, 92 of Mount Vernon, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, May 27, 2006 in his home from a lingering illness. Services for Francis will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Grace Baptist Church in Marion by Pastor Cecil Ballard, with burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m., at Morgan Funeral Home Mount Vernon. Francis is survived by two daughters: Cora (Bob) Collins of Mount Vernon, Joyce (Chuck) Flores, of Anaheim, California; five sons: Walter (Fern) Nost of Atlantic, Donald (Winnie) Nost of Melbourne, Florida, William (Janet) Nost of Mount Vernon, Richard Nost and John (Sue) Nost all of Lisbon; two sisters: Eleanor Danner of Washington state, and Virginia Smith of Arkansas. Also surviving are thirty-three grandchildren; forty-nine great grand children; nine great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norine, a brother Ernest who died as an infant, a sister Freda Lowry, a daughter-in-law Sharon Nost, two grandsons; Scott and Eric Nost. Francis was born September 20 1913, in Kellogg, the first child of Frederick Willis and Harriet Emily Reynolds Boat. He attended country school in the Kellogg-Sully area. He married Norine Nost, June 24, 1953 in Des Moines. She died in 2005. He retired from Penick & Ford in Cedar Rapids in 1976. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Marion, where he was a member of the Hilltoppers Senior Group. Francis was the best step-father seven children could have. He was known by many as "Grandpa". Francis will be greatly missed by all. A memorial fund in Francis' honor may be sent to: Grace Baptist Church, 1461 East Post Road, Marion, IA 52302.
I write to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends on the passing of your love one. When we lose someone that we love, it is always difficult to cope with. It is at times like this that we need comfort and support whether we are acquainted or not You have many wonderful memories to cherish, for he lived a long life. Hold on to the memories that you have, for all has not been forgotten. May the scriptures at Revelation 21: 1-5 prove to be a source of great comfort for you now and in the days to come. Your dearly beloved one will not be forgotten by you or our Heavenly Father. (Acts 24:15 Psalm 37: 29). Once again, you have my sincere condolences.
