Faye Simmons Teeple

Faye Arlene Simmons Teeple born June 21, 1927 joined our Lord and Mom's personal saviour on August 24, 2011. A resident of Folsom, California, Faye lived her last and energetic years as a resident of the Folsom Convalescent Hospital where she was active in arts, crafts, caring for other residents, and keeping spirits high and a laugh in many hearts. Faye passed peacefully following a short illness with youngest Son Doug by her side. She was born in Lisbon, Iowa to the late Lavern and Mildred Simmons where she grew up and attended Lisbon High School. Faye was one of seven children from "Vern" and "Mid" and is survived by her sisters Joan Simmons Loomis of Loveland, Colorado, Jean Simmons Johnson of Guilford, Connecticut, and Donald Simmons of Tipton, Iowa and her beloved children James Teeple (Gloria) from Navarre, Florida, Doug Teeple (Sue) from Folsom, California and Lisa Teeple Halbleib (Joe) of Aurora, Colorado as well as 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Faye, in passing, joins her beloved brothers, Gaylord Simmons from Lisbon, Iowa, Lyle Simmons from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and LaVana "Bonnie" Simmons May from Plano, Texas. Prior to moving to California Faye and her children were long time residents of Coralville, Iowa where Faye's siblings reflected that her home was the most enjoyable, inviting, and comfortable home to visit they have ever known. In Coralville Faye was active in the family business where she was recognized as the American Business Woman of the Year for the state of Iowa and the Iowa Multiple Sclerosis Mother of the Year for 1979. When Faye was not chasing her children around the neighbourhood for homework assignments or dinner she spent over nine years volunteering as a counsellor for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Between family, friends, and many who knew Faye all will acknowledge she always put her children, family and friends before herself and thus rightfully earned the affectionate and loving title of "The Mom." We miss you Mom. You are at peace and in the loving arms of your Lord, parents, brothers, sisters and friends. A memorial service will be held for Faye Teeple at the Morgan Funeral Home 715 Tenth Avenue S.W., Mount Vernon, Iowa on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at the Lisbon Cemetery.
