Evelyn Wagner

Evelyn Encke Wagner, 81, of Marion, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Memorial service for Evelyn will be at 3:00 pm, Monday, February 11, 2013, at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. Surviving Evelyn is her husband Joseph Wagner, at home. She is also survived by four sons: Bill (Iris) Encke, of Dubuque; Erik (Cathy) Encke, of Cedar Rapids; Kurt (Shelly) Encke, of Tipton; and Greg (Lori) Encke, of Seattle, Washington; and six grandchildren: Neil, Alison, Kristy, Deirdre, Sara and Rob. Evelyn was born the only child of Erik and Svea Johanson on June 25, 1931 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The family moved back to their native Sweden, where Evelyn grew up. She returned to the United States when she was eighteen. She married Robert Encke November 24, 1951. He died October 6, 1984. Evelyn was active in Cub Scouts. She worked as a baker at Coe College for many years. She loved to travel, especially to visit her parents in Stockholm. Evelyn married Joseph Wagner July 25, 2010. They made their home in Marion, with their beloved pet Joey. Memorials in Evelyn's honor may be made to Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Road SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403
