Ernest Wright

Ernest Wright, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday morning, January 9, 2023, in Bridges at Ankeny following a brief illness. Burial will be at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon are assisting Ernest's family. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Jeff (Joan) Wright of Holmen, Wisconsin; daughter, Deb Wright of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren, Alicia (Nathaniel) Blumberg, Krysta (Kevin) Higgins, and Jeremy Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katie (Stoneking) Wright; sister, Dorothy Paul; son, Terry;and daughter, Diane. Ernest was born December 22, 1934, in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1953. On May 23, 1956, he married Patricia Moore from Springville, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, where his parents were also wed. Ernest worked part-time at Al's Phillips 66 Station in Mount Vernon in the 60's and 70's. They lived in Mount Vernon until 1983, when they moved to Cedar Rapids.
