Elizabeth Anne Weland

Elizabeth 'Elsie' Anne Weland, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. David O'Connor. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her sister, Genevieve Grishaber of Marion; three stepchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was born March 25, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harry and Eleanor (Zdebski) Majewski. She graduated from Mt. Mercy College and worked as a secretary for the Witwer Grocery office, Mercy Medical Center pathology department, and for Weland Laboratory. She married Dr. Regis E. Weland on March 30, 1964, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1996. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Sam Sterenchuk; husband, Regis; sisters, Lillian Salveson, Laura O'Brien, and Sr. Helen Majewski; and a brother, Edward Sterenchuk.
