Dateline: Stanwood Edward Sylvester Wolfe, 77, died May 31, 2005 in his Stanwood home from cancer. Services 1:30 p.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. The family will greet friends Thursday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Stanwood Cemetery. Surviving Ed are his wife Dorothy D. at home; their children: Dean and his special friend Rita Freeman of Stanwood, Gloria and her husband Larry Hunt of Tipton, Patricia and her husband David Shultz of Cedar Rapids, and Jack and his wife Arlene of Yutan, Nebraska; eleven grand children; twenty-one great grand children; Three sisters: Elizabeth (Bess) Biwer of Cedar Rapids, Isabelle (Betty) Hollenbeck of Magnolia, Texas, and Buelah Moss of Cedar Rapids; three brothers: Roy Wolfe of Lisbon, Ernest Wolfe of Arkansas, and Clifford Wolfe of Arizona. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Timothy Allen Wolfe, a great grandson Richard Paul Meineke, and a sister who died in infancy. Ed was born October 11, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, the third child of Gerald E. and Alice I. Colson Wolfe. He married Dorothy Dean Boots Wolfe on October 28, 1944 in Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed in the Morley area for thirty-one years, moving to Stanwood in 1999. Ed was a Prairie Creek Station Instrument and Control Technician retiring in 1984 after thirty-three years of service. Ed loved to camp and fish and the couple wintered in Florida for the last twenty-two years. Memorials in Ed's honor may be sent to the Stanwood Volunteer Ambulance P. O. Box Stanwood, IA.
