Eddie 'Tank' Ayers, Jr., 71, of Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, January 6, 2022. Celebration of Life: 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, followed by a luncheon. Survivors include his mother; Catherine Boyd; wife, Karlene Ayers; children, Heath Ayers, Evalina Johnson, Edwina Ayers, Easton Ayers, Ean Ayers, Evan Ayers, Edrean Ayers, Ethen Ayers, Edrick Ayers, EdLena Ayers, Eddie Ayers III, Edejah Ayers, EdLesia Ayers, EdLivea Ayers, Jason Blackcloud, Dari Hoosman, Melinda Henderson, and Tyson Hathaway; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tank is also survived by his siblings, Lucille Montgomery, Lena Phillips, Jesse Boyd, Kim Boyd, Dorothy White, and Cleveland White. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Elaine Ayers; sister, Mary Boyd; father, Eddie Ayers, Sr.; and father, Kermit Boyd. Tank was born September 6, 1950, in Tennessee. He moved to Waterloo when he was six years old, then to Cedar Rapids at age 16. Tank loved to play blackjack and also spades with all of his children and their friends, who he loved like his own. He worked several jobs throughout his lifetime, but his favorite pastime was cooking and hanging with all of those grandbabies. Tank was a true OG who loved his OE.
