Douglas Lane Johnston, 73, life long resident of Mount Vernon, passed away at his home Monday September 10, 2007, after a lengthy illness. He was born November 20, 1933 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is survived by his mother Myrtle (Peg) Johnston who resides at 104 East 3rd, P.O. Box 430, Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Mechanicsville, Iowa 52306. Doug has donated his body to the University of Iowa and there will be no formal services.
