Dorothy Jean Wolfe 72 of Lisbon, died Saturday June 23, 2007 in Mercy Hospice House, Hiawatha from cancer. Funeral services 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by the Reverend Tom Mattson. Friends may call Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the chapel. Dorothy will be buried in Lisbon Cemetery. Dorothy is survived by her husband LeRoy, four children: Deanna (Douglas) Brennan, of Dubuque, Michael (Michele) of Sioux City, Timothy (Kathryn) of Ham Lake, Minnesota, and Lorrie (Bill) Anderson, of Lisbon. She is also survived by grandchildren: Robert, Deborah, Emily, William, Timothy, Kaitlynn, Aaron, Kimberley, and Kelly, a great grandson that will arrive in September, and a sister Norma Ritchie from Marion. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, a brother Delmar Overton, and a beloved step father Francis Payton. Dorothy was born May 29, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, the third child of Delmar and Viola McGee Overton. She married Roy Wolfe, July 18, 1953 in Cedar Rapids. After her children were born, Dorothy graduated from Stewart's School of Hairstyling in Sioux City, and owned and operated Dorothy's Hairdressers in Mount Vernon and Lisbon. Dorothy graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Floral Design and worked at the Flower Stoll in Mount Vernon until her retirement. She was often seen with her husband Roy at his job at Lange's Texaco (Sinclair). She and her family moved to Lisbon October 3, 1968. Dorothy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Lisbon United Methodist Church. She and Roy are long time supporters of Lisbon Schools. Dorothy, with her God-given talents, with hair, flowers, and people made many people happy. Dorothy had many hobbies. She shared with family and friends; her sewing, quilting, knitting, tole painting, baking, especially cake decorating, ceramics, gardening and traveling. Dorothy was extremely proud of her husband, children, and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. The family would like to especially thank the "angels without wings," on the 8th floor of Mercy Medical Center, and to those at Hospice House of Mercy. The family would also like to thank Mount Vernon Family Practice, especially Dr. Steven Young for their many years of dedication.
