Doris M. Anderson

Doris M. Anderson, 82 of Martelle, died Sunday May 28, 2006 at the Anamosa Care Center, from long illness. The funeral for Doris will be 11:00 a.m., Friday at Linn Grove Presbyterian Church, by Pastor Karen Downy-Beals. Doris will be buried in the Wyoming Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Doris is survived by a brother-in-law Wayne (Donna) Wacker, three sisters-in-law: Norma (Duane) Anderson, Rosemary (Donald) Anderson, and Betty (Harley) Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: Harold, Herbert, Harley, Duane, Donald and a sister Donna. Doris was born February 29, 1924 on the Anderson family farm near Wyoming the daughter of Earnest and Amy Streeper Anderson. She attended country schools near her home and graduated from Anamosa High School in 1942. Doris worked as the secretary to the Warden at the Anamosa State Penitentiary. She later worked for Collins Radio for twenty-two years in Cedar Rapids, retiring in June of 1982. Doris stayed at home caring for her parents until their death. Doris was an active member of the Linn Grove Presbyterian Church. A memorial fund has been established.
