Dennis Franke, 75, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial: Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include his sister, Evett (Robert) Unzicker-Schierholz; and niece, Crystal Lee Strickland.
Denny was born January 19, 1941, the son of Lester Elroy and Evaue (Conklin) Franke. He enjoyed farm tractors, model trains, and raising jack rabbits with his sister when they were kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Evett and Crystal, Denny is well remembered. When we became your neighbor in 1980 he and I used to race our riding lawn mowers up the road. I always enjoyed seeing him. My sympathies to you.

Denny and I shared a lot of laughs (and a few tears) over the years, and I am saddened to hear of his passing. It was a pleasure knowing Denny and spending time with him. I will be unable to attend the services, as I am out of town on vacation right now, otherwise I would certainly be there to pay my last respects.

Evett and Crystal, Leroy and I first met Denny thru our friends, Bob and Mary Alice Rawson. He loved to keep watch over their property when they were gone. Mary Alice is still living and we will let her know about Denny’s passing.
