Dennis Blood

November 26, 1950 ~ August 26, 2019

Dennis R. Blood was born on November 26,1950, to Bob and Lucille Blood of Lisbon, Iowa. Dennis passed away on August 26, 2019, in Hiawatha, Iowa after several months of health issues. He graduated from Lisbon High School and the University of Northern Iowa. He was and foremost a sports enthusiast who played baseball and basketball for Lisbon and Kirkwood. In playing on Kirkwood's first college basketball teams, he recalled one time '' many of my teammates were Vietnam veterans'' and as such basketball was a way that helped these veterans re-assimilate into civilian life. Dennis was a faithful Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs, and Yankees fan. Dennis was known in business circles for many years as a 'head hunter' or as he would say 'Executive Search Consultant' for accounting, banking, IT, engineering, among other organizations. Dennis placed programmers, engineers, commercial loan officers, controllers, CFOs and lawyers. Many people across the country owe their careers to Dennis' work in finding them professional employment. As a result most of these people have long and prosperous careers that they owe to Dennis' work in finding them good professional positions. Dennis is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Kohl of Minnesota, Vera Klein of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his brother, Jim Blood of Plano, Texas. There will be memorial service at the Federated Church in Lisbon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31,2019, with a graveside service later that afternoon at the Lisbon Cemetery.

  1. I remember Denny well. He played basketball and baseball for my father at Kirkwood. He was a nice guy and a good teammate. Farewell to the crafty southpaw. Thank you for the time you shared with us.
