David Paul Sjullie Sr., 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Unity Point Saint Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held. David Paul Sjullie was born at St. Luke's Hospital, on September 15, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Gerald and Arlene (Decker) Sjullie. David lived a full life. He was a people person who would light up the room and be the life of the party. David was an adventure seeker, who rode over one hundred rollercoasters in his life. He dedicated over thirty years to his occupation at KCRG, where he was a part of the championship softball team. David bowled two perfect games in his life, and many tournaments. He enjoyed racing, fishing, traveling, gardening, grilling, and especially the Cardinals and Hawkeyes. David is survived by his children, David (Claudia) Sjullie Jr., and Kristi (Alex) Sjullie-Pick; grandchildren, Allie, Cassandra, and Dalina; parents, brother, Greg (Adriana) Sjullie; nephews, Alex and Marcus Sjullie; aunts, Audrey Hyke and Betty Roesler; and uncle, Louie Decker. David was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

  2. Always a nice guy with whom to work during my KCRG days in the late 80s. Enjoyed being a part of some station softball teams although it sounds like there were far more competitive groups that included Dave.

  4. Dave was such a great person to work with at KCRG in the early 80’s. My husband remembers playing softball with him on the KCRG team. They both played outfield and Dave made an amazing over the head catch in one game and they both just laughed and laughed as they ran off the field. I remember him talking about his roses and gardening. A man of many interests and loved by many.
