Daryle 'Del' Edward Lampe, 79, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, after a long and brave journey with Parkinson's Disease. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services is assisting the family with arrangements.Born September 9, 1945, to Marie and Henry Lampe, Daryle grew up in Bancroft and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with seven brothers and sisters. He is a graduate of Regis High School.
In his younger years, Daryle enjoyed bowling with his friends. His competitive spirit earned he and his partner, Dale Kisner, a State of Iowa Doubles Bowling Championship in 1971.
On June 28, 1969, Daryle married Eileen (Brimeyer) at St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They had two children, Lisa and Jason. At home, Daryle was a quiet and calm presence where he enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, gardening, and watching his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed playing golf and cards with his close friends. Daryle loved serving as a Pit Dad for the Kennedy High School Marching Band and his love of the marching arts continued on watching his grandchildren perform in marching band, Drum Corps International (DCI), and Winter Guard International (WGI).
Daryle 'Del' spent 47 years working as a logistics clerk for Cargill, Inc. ensuring corn and soybeans were delivered to processing plants and finished goods delivered to customers. He enjoyed collaborating with personnel from the many transportation companies that moved raw materials and products for Cargill.
In retirement, Daryle enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and granddogs. Before succumbing to the physical limitations of Parkinson's Disease, Daryle and Eileen took several trips to locations around the Midwest.
Daryle is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Lisa (Brian) Colton and Jason (Amy) Lampe; grandchildren, Ben, Tommy, Kira, and Logan; brothers, Kenneth 'Ken' and Francis 'Fritz'. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Marie; brothers and sisters, Helen, Donna, Mary Ann, Lois, and Don.
A celebration of Daryle's life will be held at a later date. Details of the celebration will be communicated on his memorial page in the near future. Though I never had the pleasure to meet him, I know he was special, because I know Lisa, and she is special! My deepest sympathies to his many family and friends.
