Date line Mechanicsville Darlene R. Williams, 79 of Keystone Cedars Assisted Living Residence, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Mechanicsville, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, from complications due to a stroke. Funeral services 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., in the chapel. Burial Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Darlene is survived by two sons, Richard (Marlys), Vista, California, and Roger (Deb), Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Bethany, and Laura: one great-granddaughter Savannah; brother, Bill (Janice) Resewehr, Clarence; and sister Carol (Bob) Naylor, Stoughton, Wisconsin Preceding Darlene in death were her parents and husband, Leland. Darlene was born November 1, 1929, in Stanwood to Leo and Lena (Portewig) Resewehr. She graduated from Clarence High School in 1946. On September 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Leland Russell Williams, in Clarence. While living in Mechanicsville, Darlene started her career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1962 and retired in 1990 as Postmaster. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and NARFE (Natitonal Active and Retired Federal Employees Association). Time spent with children and grandchildren was special to Darlene who was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Memorial contributions in Darlene's honor maybe made to the Dennis and Donna Oldforf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, Iowa 52223
