Connie was born August 11, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. She attended Stanwood High School and graduated from Paris Beauty Academy in 1962. She married Gene Brown, October 19, 1963 at Stanwood. She worked for many beauty shops before moving to Mechanicsville and opened Connie's Beauty Shop. Connie was a member of the Stanwood Union Church. Connie loved to fish with her family and friends and was an avid bird watcher. Christmas was her special time of year and enjoyed sleigh rides. She loved to decorate the house for her family, often decorating up to five Christmas trees, and even going so far as decorating one in July. She enjoyed baking sugar cookies and had to hide them from her kids, so they weren't eaten before the holiday. Connie was also very patriotic. Most important to her were her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice of Mercy, Mercy Hospice and the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I will remember Connie for her tremendous courage, her never-ending spirit, and her hilarious sense of humor. She will be missed by many.
