Carol Jean (Karns) Braun 67, of Marion, died Saturday, November 13, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. on Friday, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion, by Rev. Blair Frank Visitation from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home on Friday. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville. She is survived by her husband, Garen, four children, Rhonda Smith, Georgia (Robert) Devereux, Kathy Conway, and Damon Braun; three grandchildren, Alex Smith, Bridget and Brooke Devereux; and two step-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Kelly Devereux. Carol was born May 27, 1943, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of George and Berniece (Dittmer) Karns. She married Garen Braun on June 8, 1974, in Marion. Many years ago, she worked as a cook and server for Ole's Ham & Egger in Marion. Most recently she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Viers; and a half brother, Howard Prosser.
