Carmella Eve McNamara, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, lost her battle with stage four lung cancer on Sunday, December 8, 2024. She passed peacefully in her sleep while at St. Luke's, in the hospice unit. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carmella was born on December 24, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Regis McNamara and Margaret (Aucutt) Schillig.
Carmella's favorite color was red. She loved her grandchildren, her coffee, making bracelets, mushroom hunting, fishing, and spending time with her loved ones. She was known for her stubbornness and wanting things done her way, such as her coffee! She just had to have her coffee with two creamers and four sugar. Carmella was the type to give you the shirt off her back. She loved to crack jokes and keep people on their toes. She will be forever missed and loved by many.
Carmella is survived by her mother, children, Clare McNamara, Eric Lowe, and Josefina Franks; grandchildren, Blake Heishman, Kary Heishman, and Eric Lowe; sisters, Kathy Severson-McNamara, Connie Cunningham, and Christina Williams; many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Carmella is reunited with her father, Regis McNamara; son, Blake McNamara; brother, James McNamara; sister, Carrie Arment; grandparents; and loving pet, Buddy McNamara.
Condolences, flowers, and cards may be sent to 702 L Street Southwest, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
