Family communications may be sent to: www.bloodfamily.org Burwood Oliver "Bob" Blood 90 of 1220 Fifth Avenue, S.E., Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion and Lisbon, died Thursday, August 18, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from pneumonia. Bob's funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at the First Federated Church in Lisbon by Reverend Samuel Kohl and Reverend Nathanael Kohl. Bob will be buried in Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon. Surviving Bob are his family: Marilyn Kohl of Windsor, Missouri, Vera Klein of Cedar Rapids, James of Tampa and Dennis of Cedar Rapids; a brother Valoris of Texas; a sister Monica Svoboda and sister-in-law Evelyn Larson both of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law Harold Dragoo of Colorado; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren. Preceding Bob were his parents, his wife, two brothers: Garland and Hillis. Bob was born May 19, 1915 at Canton, Illinois, the son of Ernest and Vera Davis Blood. He married Lucile Dragoo, July 2, 1936 at Cedar Rapids. She died July 4, 1984. Bob lived in Lisbon for twenty years moving to Marion in 1981. He worked for twenty-six years at Iowa Manufacturing, Cedar Rapids, in the shipping department, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the International Order of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union of Cedar Rapids. Bob was a member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the First Federated Church. He served on the church board. He was a bus driver for both his church and the Lisbon School District, and was a substitute mail carrier. Bob moved to live with his daughter Vera in 1994, and moved to a care center in 1999 after suffering a stroke. Bob's hobbies were gardening, mowing, shooting pool, and hunting mushrooms. He won many trophies in horseshoe competition. In Bob's life, his family came first, especially when encouraging his sons' in their sports. His sustaining faith in God and church guided him through his ninety years of life.
