Brandyce “Brandy” Elizabeth Doolin Bouzek, 31, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, from complications of ALS. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation for one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include her father, Gary Bouzek; mother, Debbie (Dave Bowles) Bouzek; brothers, Bo (Holly) Bouzek and Nick (Melanie) Bouzek; nieces and nephews, Baya, Dayton, Oaklee, and Kyler “Dale”; aunt, Dee Foarde; uncle, James Heslop; many cousins; and her cats, Socks and Smokey.

Brandy was born on May 25, 1994, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Gary Bouzek and Debra (Heslop) Bouzek. She entered the world facing significant birth challenges, but from the very beginning, she showed a remarkable strength and determination that would define her life. Brandy never allowed obstacles to stand in her way, meeting each one with resilience and courage.

She graduated from Jefferson High School in 2013. During her school years, she worked as a cook at CJ’s Sports Bar & Grill, which is a favorite gathering place for her family and friends. After graduation, Brandy worked at Nordstrom before discovering what she often called the best job in the world—serving as a paraprofessional at Washington High School.

In her role there, Brandy was a deeply valued member of the team in the autism classroom. She formed meaningful connections with her students, and her compassion, patience, and dedication left a lasting impression on both students and staff. She truly loved being with them each day, and that love was returned many times over.

Brandy will be remembered for her kindness, her joyful spirit, and the genuine care she showed to others. Her warmth and compassion made a difference in countless lives, especially those of the students she served.

Special thanks to her devoted caregivers: Dee, Cindy, Hannah, and Jennifer. You made her journey more comfortable and filled with compassion.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Brandy,

I will forever cherish our memories and friendship. You were such a big part of my life, especially when we were younger. All of our memories at Super Skate, Wilson, Jefferson, Jones, and so many more. I never thought the last time we saw each other at CJs, would be our last. You were the most beautiful person inside and out. You always gave so much to everyone, and took nothing in return. There is no person in this world who has a heart as beautiful as yours. I remember when were talking about you working at Wash and how happy teaching made you. You were such a light for many, especially me. No matter the years that passed, we always picked up right where we left off. I will forever love you, I have the utmost respect for you, and I will carry you with me wherever I go in life. You never deserved the cards you were dealt in life, but you always had a smile- no matter what. You have always been the strongest person, even when we were young girls. I always admired you, and I always will. I love you forever.

    Your sister,

    Kayleen

  2. Lord, we come to You with heavy hearts as we lift up Brandy Bouzek. We pray that you welcome her into your loving arms and grant her eternal peace. Surround her family and loved ones with yourcomfort and strength during this time of deep sorrow.
Father, in the midst of their grief, remind them they are not alone. Wrap them in your grace, bring them moments of peace, and carry them through the days ahead when the weight feels too heavy to bare. May your love shine through others as they support one another and hold tight to the memories that will live on forever. In Jesus’s name amen
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Much love, 💕 JoAnn Tamayo and family

  3. I got a chance to work with Brandy at CRCSD Transportation. She always had a smile on her face and said “good morning” or “hi” to just about everyone. I remember when I was pregnant with my almost 7 year old and was beat the day I got sent to have my daughter. I looked so drained and sore and Brandy asked me how I was doing. I told her that I was in a little pain, but was on way to go see my OB for an appointment and she said “maybe you will get to have her early”… I laughed when I was sent from my OB to labor and delivery due to high BP because she was the one who said I might get to have her sooner than expected. Brandy touched so many lives and will definitely miss seeing her updates on here… Fly high Brandy…. Until we meet again 😇

  4. My deepest condolences go out to Brandy’s family. I had the opportunity to meet Brandy a couple of times and she always had a wonderful smile on her face, & knew how to make others smile. She was always there for all her friends, & loved her family unconditionally. She touched so many lives & will be deeply missed. R.I.H.

  5. Sending love and prayers to the family for the loss of such a bright light. Many years ago we spent a lot of time with all of you and enjoyed Debbie’s wonderful cooking and Garry’s humor at their wonderful parties and picnics. Our daughters played together and had so much fun playing until they ran out of energy. My heart is breaking for all of you but I know that she is in Gods hands and in a most beautiful place. Now she is a beautiful angel who will watch over all of her family with love. For now she will reside in all of our hearts and when we remember her it is her way of sending us a heavenly hug. Much love.

  6. I remember meeting Brandy at Special Olympics when she was a coach for her team. She had a wonderful sense of humor.

  7. Sending our prayers to all of you cuz 💋 may God bless you all 🙏🙏🙏 love you guys 😘
