James Robert 'Bob' Myers, 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Services will be at a later date. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Bob was born June 29, 1937, in Fruitland, Iowa, to Earnest Oliver 'Ollie' and Mary 'Bernice' (Stoneking) Myers. He joined the Navy in 1956, serving on the USS Hancock, and was honorably discharged in 1958. Later, he enjoyed attending the Hancock Reunion. He was a long-time member of the Carpenter's Union, working as a steel worker in California, Illinois, and Iowa. In 1985, he took over his dad's company, Myers Salvage, in Mount Vernon. He enjoyed going to breakfast with friends at Gwen's in Lisbon.
Survivors include his son, Robert Duane; step-sons, Stanley Swain and Charles Moore; 3 grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Nadine 'Deanie' Sedam; special friend, Sandy Yanda; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gerri; son, Steven; brother, John; sisters, Mary Smith and Lee Schmitz; and beloved dog, Bear.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Bob was one of a kind…..and always such a tease. Always trying to upset me, but he never got the job done.
