Betty Jean Mohn, 86, of Lisbon, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 20, 2016, at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at the church. Private family burial at Lisbon Cemetery. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include her children, Sheri Mohn of Okoboji; Marc (Rebecca) Mohn of Lisbon, and Christine (Jay) Davis of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Lance) VeDepo of Henderson, Nevada, Alex (Sarah) Davis of Martelle, and Mary 'Maggie' Davis of Mount Vernon; step-grandchildren, Jason Davis of Mount Vernon and Madison Bowling of Lisbon; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wolf of Cedar Rapids.
Betty was born August 24, 1929, on a farm south of Lisbon to Clarence and Florence (Stahle) Stout, the youngest of five children. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1946 and attended the University of Minnesota before entering flight attendant school for Eastern Airlines. She returned home to the farm and took a job in Lisbon at Best Oil Company where she met William 'Bill' Mohn'they were married on October 17, 1952. The couple made their home on the Mohn family farm north of Lisbon where they raised their three children. In addition to being a stay at home mother, Betty worked as a secretary and retired from US Nameplate in 1985. Bill and Betty retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas from 1985 to 1995 when they returned to Lisbon.
Betty was a follower of Jesus Christ, and was a member of the First Federated Church in Lisbon, Midway Baptist Church in Midway, Arkansas, and the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, numerous Bible studies, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered at the Lisbon History Center and South East Linn Community Center. She was an avid gardener and gifted artist and historian. Betty was a kind and gentle person who lived out her faith in her daily life and she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sisters, Mildred Fischer, Marjorie Hundwardsen, and Audrey Miller; and brother, Robert Stout.
So many great memories of Betty as I was growing up. I spent a lot of time with the family and she always made me feel welcomed. Very special lady. Rest in piece Betty, you will be missed!

I have known Betty for almost 45 years. She was a fine, sweet woman and she will be remembered as a Godly, honorable woman. We were all blessed by knowing her.
