Scott Douglas Phelps, 60, Cedar Rapids, passed away October 22, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring 2023. A memorial fund has been established in Scott's name. Donations may be directed toward Pancreatic Cancer research. Scott is survived by his wife, Florence; two sons, Aaron, Chad, both of Marion; stepdaughter, Angie (Darrell) Hilzendager of Cedar Rapdis; grandson, Chase; step-grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley; two brothers, Rex (Tora) Phelps of Cedar Rapids, Brad Phelps of Edina, MO; and numerous other relatives and friends. Scott was born December 16, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, to Larry Dean Phelps and Betty Ann Gifford. He grew up in the Cedar Rapids area and graduated from the Springville High School. Scott married Florence Kelsey in 2010. Scott worked for the City of Cedar Rapids as Road Maintenance. He is remembered for having numerous hobbies. Scott flew Remote Control Airplanes, loved fishing, and was a big fan of NASCAR. Scott most enjoyed being outdoors, boating and camping in Missouri. Scott is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes be directed to Pancreatic Cancer Research in Scott Phelps' name.
