Kenneth W. Klinsky

Kenneth William Klinsky, 51 of 1610 Ivanhoe Road, Ely, died Monday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of leukemia. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Ely by the Reverend Jeff Borgwardt. Burial Rogers Grove Cemetery rural Ely. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Ken is survived by his wife Diane; a son Dennis and wife Amy all of Ely; a daughter Lisa, husband Nathan Knutson and a granddaughter Miriam all of Mankato, Minnesota; his parents Glenn and Darlene Hickey Klinsky of Ely; two sisters: Shirley and husband Doug Mott of Batavia, Illinois, and Linda Jensen of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are nephews: Eric and Andrew Mott, and Tyson and Jason Jensen; mother-in-law Dorothy Poduska of Solon; sisters-in-laws: Margaret (Joe) Bena, Mary (Jim) Cole, Beverly Poduska, Joan (Mark) Blindt; brother-in-law Larry (Judy) Poduska, and their children. Preceding Ken in death were his grandparents, father-in-law Leonard Poduska, and brother-in-law Dan Poduska. Ken was born May 21, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, the first child of Glenn and Darlene Klinsky. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1972, and from Iowa State University in 1976 with a B.S. in Agriculture. Ken and Diane Poduska were married June 5, 1976 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church rural Solon. He worked for the Soil Conservation Services in Jefferson and Mahaska counties for three years. Ken moved to the Klinsky family farm in 1979 where he farmed with his father. Since 1993, he worked for Linn Coop Oil Company of Marion in petroleum sales. As a boy, he was very active in Linn County 4-H. Ken was a Trustee of Putnam Township, a member of the Linn County Pork Producers where he served on the board, Linn County Farm Bureau, and the Iowa State Alumni Association. Ken was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church of Ely and served as past president and treasurer of the church council. Ken was John Deere green through and through. He appreciated tractors and the Eastern Iowa Tractorcade. He looked forward to taking family vacations, being outdoors, and working with his hands. Ken was a loving husband and father, who treasured his family and his livelihood. A memorial fund in Ken's honor has been established. On-line condolences: morganfuneralchoices.com
