John was a funny guy who enjoyed playing poker with his friends, playing card games with family, 'collecting' items including older Thunderbirds to restore, coaching the Hawkeyes from his chair, and listening to '80s and '90s country music. John cherished his family, and enjoyed the time they spent together. They will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Anne.
My husband, Rod, worked many years with John at Collins. He came home with comments about the discussions they had. I could tell how much He enjoyed John’s friendship. I am sorry for your loss. Vicki, if you want to talk, if i can help; please reach out to me. Mary Young

Enjoyed playing poker with John at the barn a couple days a week. Always enjoyed his wit and he always said he was $100 in the game even when he was winning. He caught more last cards(rivers) that we nicknamed him River John. We’ll miss you. As you rest in piece may you have the high poker hand and catch on the river. Condolences to your family.
Sorry to hear of John’s passing. Will miss him on Mondays at Riverside and at the barn on Wednsdays. He had great humor. Rest in peace river John. Elmer Beckler.
