Gladys Ann Marek Clark Jones

Gladys Ann Marek Clark "Queenie" Jones, 80 of Lisbon, died Friday, May 23, 2008 in Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Rapids due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon. Friends may call Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., where the Wake Service begins at 7:30. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg. Gladys is survived by her children; Virgil Clark, Lisbon, Carolyn Welter, Greeley, Colorado, Edwin Clark, Lisbon, Dolores Washburn, Cedar Rapids, Denise Martin, Alburnette, and Jeff Clark, Solon, 20-grandchildren, 14-great grandchildren, three-brothers; Virgil, Macon, Georgia, Donald, Praireburg, and Elmer Marek, Henderson, Nevada, three sisters; Karen Konen and Ellen LaGrange, both of Cedar Rapids, Dolores VanGreenen, the Netherlands, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Gladys in death were her parents Albert and Anna Fousek Marek, and a grandson Michael Clark. Gladys was born February 4, 1928 in the "Cabbage Patch," Prairieburg. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1945. She married John Clark. They were divorced. She married Donald Jones. He died in 2001. She owned Queenie's Pub in Lisbon. After her marriage to Donald, they moved to Oriole, Missouri where they operated Happy Hollow Bar and Grill. Gladys moved back to Lisbon in 2002. The family would like to extend our thanks to all the care givers of the Promise House and Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and especially Vickie Kral. A memorial fund has been established.
