Edward Eugene Nost, 73, of Lisbon, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Solon Care Center after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Linda; sons, Rick (Chris) Nost of St. Charles, Missouri and Jeff Nost of Lisbon; grandchildren, Nick and Jessie Nost of St. Charles, Missouri, and McKenna and Josie Nost of Lisbon; sisters, Barbara (Roger) Dolan of Lisbon and Delores (Gary) Robinson of Mechanicsville; sisters-in-law, Helen Meeks of Lisbon and Sherlee Peterson of Cedar Rapids; and brother-in-law, Ken Peterson of Lake Delhi.
Edward was born January 17, 1943, in Cedar Rapids to Fred and Jessie (Fortner) Nost. A lifetime resident of Lisbon, he graduated from Lisbon High School in 1961. He worked part-time for Pat's DX for 13 years, then worked as an assemblyman for Allis Chalmers/Harnischfeger for 26 years, until their closure. Most recently, he worked for Terex until his retirement in 2009. Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching stock car races, and spending time with his beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Junior.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Lisbon Fire Department, the Lisbon History Center, or Unity Point Hospice in Edward's name.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Solon Care Center and Unity Point Hospice for their generous care throughout Edward's illness.
