Dorothy D. Kirkpatrick

Dorothy Dee "Dody" Gish Kirkpatrick, 76 of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids from complications due to surgery. Dody's funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Mechanicsville by the Reverend Jim Roth. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday in Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Dody will be buried in the Lisbon Cemetery. Dody is survived by her husband Dean; daughter, Gwen and husband Rev. Carl Wenck of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and their children Megan (Laramie) Navrath and Jana (John) Greer and their children Rebekah and Faith; daughter Dee Ann and husband Mark Glover of Mechanicsville and their children: Mike (Kristen) Glover and their daughter Addyson, Patrick Glover (Jenny Welch), and Tyler Glover; sister, Carol Paul; sister-in-law, Opal Gish; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special family friend Elizabeth "Bebe" Lehr. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bernard, and an infant sister. Dody was born August 5, 1930 in Lisbon the daughter of Lucian and Blanche Willis Gish. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1948. She married Dean Kirkpatrick June 5, 1949 in the First Federated Church at Lisbon. Dody baby sat for her grandchildren as well as many area families. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Mechanicsville. Dody enjoyed games, cards, and making pies at the church. She loved taking walks with Dean and watching her grandsons play sports. Dody received great pleasure in caring for her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dody's honor may be made to: Mechanicsville Volunteer Ambulance, 100 E. First Street, or the United Methodist Church, 307 E. First Street, both of Mechanicsville, IA 52306.
