Al Ridgeway

May 23, 2006

Adelbert L. "Al" Ridgeway, 76, lived life to its fullest and went to be with the Lord and our loved ones who went before him on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, with no regrets. His bond of love with family was never to be challenged but sometimes envied, as said to him by a pastor friend some years ago. Al's wife Georgia, four daughters, four sons-in-law and fourteen grandchildren were his first priority of life. Nothing more, nothing less. They are: the Mark Fuller Family of Solon, the Dan Workman Family of Alta Loma, California, the Mark Daubert Family of Mount Vernon and the Scott Demongin Family of Chino Hills, California. Close friends of Al knew, as you became his friend you became part of the Ridgeway family. It wasn't an option. He truly loved that. Al served in the Army six years. Four of those years were in Germany before and during the Korean conflict where he earned the rank of Sgt. Major. He worked for General Dynamics-Astronautics, San Diego, where he supervised the printing of the blueprints for the construction of the Atlas Missile. In that capacity he had the privilege of meeting all of the original Astronauts. Al was affiliated with the restaurant business for thirty years. BOAB of Mount Vernon was his last business venture before retiring. You may mourn Al's absence in your life but as Pastor Robert Schuller of Crystal Cathedral in California once gave a sermon entitled "Nevertheless," treasure the memories of the good times you had with Al. He did. There will be a "Wonderful Life" service at Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon at 11:00 a.m., Friday. Private family burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Our family is grateful to Hospice of St. Luke's and Matt Hoskins for their loving care. No flowers please. Thank you.
