Althena Teel

Althena Teel, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Sharing of Memories and Stories will be at 12:00 p.m. and burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Althena was born on January 24, 1959, in Charleston, West Virginia, daughter to Ray and Dorothy (Lanham) Teel. Althena lived a simple life and enjoyed cooking, drinking coffee, and going to the casino. She had a love for feeding people and making sure those around her were taken care of. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Althena loved her family and others with an unconditional love that touched the lives of those around her.

She is survived by her children, Jeremy “Bub” (Amber) Teel, Jeremy “Scoot” (Jessie) Hartman, and Timothy (Hillary) Teel; brother, George (Sandy) Teel; sister, Karen Wilburn; grandchildren, Taylin, Dakota T., Dakota H., Shaylyn, Aubri, Otis, and Isabella; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Ash and Barbara Carey; brother, Dana Teel; and grandson, Timmy.
