I enjoyed getting to know Richard over the past year. Sitting with him while he watched the birds or watching TV. He might have watched a few shows thru his eyelids 😴😊. Loved when he called for Loi and would say “Ma, come here”

Richard Lee Miller, 75, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
A Funeral Liturgy Service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday October 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Richard was born on February 2, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Leon and Josephine (Musel) Miller. He graduated from Kennedy High School and continued his education at Kirkwood Community College and Iowa State University. On June 20, 1987, he married LoiDana Hansen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Together, they shared nearly four decades of marriage filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories.
Richard worked as a machinist at Goss Graphics for 25 years before becoming Assistant Maintenance Supervisor at Xavier High School for 18 years. He was a hardworking man and a true handyman who could figure out almost anything. If someone needed something fixed, built, or simply talked through, Richard was there.
His family will forever remember his words: “Call me if you need me, and I’ll be there to help you.” Those words reflected the way he lived. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, listen to an idea, or help someone through a difficult moment.
Richard and LoiDana shared many interests and adventures together. They owned and operated a wedding photography and DJ business throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, and spent years photographing races at Hawkeye Downs Speedway and Benton County Speedway. He enjoyed NASCAR, Iowa Hawkeyes sports, hunting, trap shooting, boating, bowling, and most of all, time with his family.
Richard was truly the “life of the party.” He was outgoing, always quick with a joke, and had a gift for making people feel welcome. His humor, kindness, and generous spirit brought joy to those around him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, LoiDana Miller; children, Christina (Austin) Neuendorf and Christopher Miller; grandson, Henry Neuendorf; and grand-dog, Sounder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Josephine Miller.
Richard will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the love he gave, the people he helped, and the memories he created.
He was always there—and he always will be in the hearts of those who loved him.
