Joseph John Neff

Joseph John Neff, 66, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Winslow House, Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026. Memorial Service will be at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Joe was born December 29, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and JoAnne (Nikodim) Neff. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School before enlisting in the United States Army, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge. Joe was proud of his service and his time as a veteran.

Joe was an extremely gifted musician with a natural talent for music. He played the piano and guitar and enjoyed composing and arranging music. He also marched with the Emerald Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, an experience that allowed him to share his love of music with others. Outside of music, Joe had a great love for animals and enjoyed following sports, especially baseball and basketball.

Joe is survived by his siblings, Barbara Aguirre and Bill (Chriss) Neff; nephew, Francisco (Megan) Aguirre; and great nieces and nephews, Serrenitee, Gavin, Leevigh, and Weslee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to the Mount Vernon/Lisbon Ambulance or the Allsop Family Humane Society.
