Kathryn "Kay" Lammers

Kay (Rowe) Lammers passed in the early hours of July 31, 2026, after a brief illness.

Kay started out in Coralville, Iowa, and married Tom Lammers in 1961.  They moved to Marion and raised two sons.  She loved Marion and enjoyed volunteering for the community. She was a Cub Scout den mother while her sons were in elementary school. Years later, she would read with at-risk students in the Encourage a Reader program at Starry elementary. She was honored to be elected to the Marion City Council where she served for 15 years. She also helped to start the craft show for the Swamp Fox Festival.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents; sister; and brother. She is survived by her children, Matt and Patrick (Cassandra); grandchildren, Nathan, Kobey, Kamden, and Cort (Chelsea); and great-grandchildren, Valerie and Audrey.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, from 3-4:30 p.m. on August 14, 2026.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marion, Iowa Fire Firefighter’s Association, 100 Irish Drive, Marion, Iowa 52302.
