Michael “Mike” Toomer, 70, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on May 31, 2026, at the Oldorf Hospice House. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family is being cared for by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Mike was born on October 13, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son to Harld and Linda (Sterling) Toomer. Mike was united in marriage to Mickie Toomer and spent 40 years together until their divorce.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found mushroom hunting, camping, hunting, or doing what he enjoyed most—fishing, a pastime at which he seemed naturally gifted. Mike also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dogs. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed gaming and was particularly fond of Wii Bowling.
Mike is survived by his children, Eric (Jamie) Toomer, Josh Toomer, Sean Toomer, Logan (Brooke) Toomer, and Brennen Toomer; grandchildren, Christian, Connor, Aaron, Kylee, Braelyn, Braxton, Sophee, Brylee, and Michael; sibling, Robert “Bob” (Wilma) Toomer, Ivan “Butch” Toomer, Arnold Toomer, Vella Toomer, and Cheryl Toomer; and ex-wife, Mickie Toomer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Linda Toomer; and brother, Harold “Nuck” Toomer.
