Frances Robinson

Frances Lillian Robinson, 90, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, passed away peacefully in Sumner, Iowa, on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Christian Community Church, Mechanicsville. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, and also for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin; children, Kurt (Susan) Oxley and Kelly (Tim) Duhrkopf; stepchildren, Amanda (Dennis) Foust and Adam (Susan) Robinson; grandchildren, Jennie Oxley, Robert Oxley, Keegan Duhrkopf, Sarah Downing, Whitney Duhrkopf, Dan Robinson, and McKayla Newton; and great grandchildren, Emily Downing, Willow Duhrkopf, Leighton Duhrkopf, Saylor Duhrkopf, Stella Newton, Hannah Downing, and Micah Duhrkopf.

Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Sharon Turner, and very special friends, Jim and Margaret Glover and Jan and the late Maurice Ford.

Fran was born on October 16, 1935, the daughter of “Don” Herald and Esther (Harvey) Turner. She graduated from Letts High School in 1954. On July 25, 1954, she married Robert “Bob” Oxley. After his passing, she married Calvin Robinson in Mechanicsville on August 29, 1970. Fran was a farm wife and also worked for 17 years as a sales associate at Von Maur.

Always active in her community, Fran was a member of the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church where she played organ for 64 years and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star where she was a 50-year member.  She was also involved with the Rainbow Girls, Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert Oxley; daughter, Kristin Oxley; and brother, Richard Turner.
