Janice Dvorak

February 25, 1953 ~ March 2, 2026

Janice Irene Dvorak, 73, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Punta Gorda. Visitation: 1:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2026, Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, Christ Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Brian Gross. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Janice was born on February 25, 1953, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Air Force Colonel Jack and E. Irene (Romoser) Marks. Growing up in a military family, Janice moved frequently, but Florida remained the place she loved most. After graduating from Oskaloosa High in 1970, she married her first husband, Donald Green, in 1972. Together they lived in Germany and Texas during his Air Force service. Upon his discharge, they lived in California before returning to Iowa to raise their children; they later divorced in 2001.

Janice’s greatest mission in life was her children, Whitney and Donald Jr. She was a spirited force in their lives, serving as a Christian Formation teacher, softball coach, and the ultimate “Backstage Dance Mom.” Professionally, Janice was a well-known leader in medical management for over 20 years, managing Eye Associates and Iowa City Family Practice, as well as the offices of Dr. Noel Brown and Dr. Wayne Tegler.

On September 1, 2007, Janice married David Dvorak. Together, they embraced a life of adventure—kayaking, boating, and traveling in their 5th wheel. Janice was David’s most loyal supporter, famously rooting for him on RAGBRAI and meeting him in towns along the way across the state of Iowa. While she found peace in her garden and loved the “good life” she and David built in Florida, her priorities always remained her kids and grandkids first.

As a grandmother, Janice was a devoted and fierce advocate. She took great pride in being there for the most pivotal moments—from being present to witness the miracle of birth to standing guard during difficult NICU journeys. She spent every summer creating memories with her six grandchildren on vacation. Following a massive stroke in 2022, Janice showed incredible resilience and determination to remain in the heart of her family, cherishing every possible moment with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David Dvorak; children, Whitney (Brandon) Vinson and Donald Green Jr. (Kristen Murphy); and grandchildren, Christopher Green, Makayla Green, Daniel Green, Zachary Black, Connor Vinson, and Madeline Vinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, half-brother James Marks, and cousins Richard and Raymond Welshons.

Memorials may be made to the Last Hope Animal Rescue.
