Herman C. Theobald Jr.

Herman Conrad Theobald Jr., 95, of Muscatine, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, Iowa. Visitation: 4-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2025, Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine. Funeral: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2025, Grace Lutheran Church. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Herman was born on December 26, 1930, in Muscatine, the son of Herman Conrad and Helen (George) Theobald Sr. He was united in marriage to Velma Jean Barnhart on June 20, 1953, at United Brethren Church, Cranston, Iowa.

Herman and Jean owned and operated C&H Flooring from 1985 – 2005. He enjoyed a strong cup of coffee, a bowl of popcorn with a pop, orange slices, date cookies, family get togethers, and a good day of fishing.

Herman is survived by his wife, Velma Jean Theobald; children, Gary (Rhonda) Theobald and Teresa (Michael) Todd; daughter-in-law, Jane Theobald; grandchildren, David Theobald, Julie (Luke) Kissell, Emily (Josh) Buster, Jake (Chelsea) Theobald, Nicholas (Creigh) Todd, Adam (Jessica) Todd, and Ellie (Emilio) Puente; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Morgan, McKenzie, Hannah, Grace, Rex, Cole, Essie, Jack, Walter “Wally”, and one on the way.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Theobald; great-grandson, Mason Kissell; and sister, Doris (Richard) Trask.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Velma Jean Theobald.
