Mary Louise Franck, 74, of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Mary was born on July 21, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. She is the eldest daughter of the late Jerome and Florence (Miller) Micka. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and attended Regis High School. Mary graduated from the University of Iowa with her BSN and worked as a registered nurse for 43 years. She met and married Gary, the love of her life, in 1978. Together they brightened the lives of those around them with their generosity and fun-loving nature. Mary greatly valued spending time with her friends and family. She loved reading, music, gardening, crafting, and laughter.

Mary is survived and dearly missed by her husband, daughter Leah (Derek) Zhorne, grandson, Evan Zhorne, and siblings, Sue (Bill) Tietz, Mike (Diane) Micka, Betty (Chris) Rowles, and Carol (Greg) Johnson and their families.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mount Vernon followed by her burial at Lisbon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the family.

    I was shocked to learn of Mary’s passing. She was not only my nurse, but a customer of mine at the grocery store. I loved her beautiful smile, she was so special and always so friendly and caring. I know how you will miss her, just always remember her precious smile and know she is sitting on your shoulder.
