Survivors include his wife, Joan; son, Lucas (Emily) Rundle and Emily (Sam Hanzelka) Rundle, all of Cedar Rapids; parents, Wallace and Barbara Rundle of Oelwein; siblings, Lynn Rundle of Oelwein, Kim Moeller of Marion, Tami (Brenden) Kuennen of Hiawatha, and Teri Rundle Thompson of Owatonna, Minnesota; brother-in law, David (Shelley) Petesch of Savannah, Georgia; the family faithful companion, Vinny; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donny Rundle was born on June 20, 1965, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Wallace and Barbara (Fraser) Rundle. He graduated from Oelwein High School in 1983 and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College. On May 13, 1989, he married the love of his life, Joan Petesch.
He dedicated nearly his entire career to the auto parts industry, working for Passport Parts, Barron Motor Supply, and most recently, O'Reilly Auto Parts. He truly valued the relationships he built with his customers and continued visiting many of them even after illness led him to early retirement.
Donny will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and incredible sense of humor. Always quick with a laugh, Donny delighted in performing his Jim Carrey impressions and lifting the spirits of everyone around him.
Outside of work, Donny found joy in playing the drums, riding motorcycles, "coaching" his kids' sports teams when they were younger, and playing softball. But above all, he cherished his family and his love of cars. One of his favorites was a 1968 Chevy Impala his son Lucas acquired'more than just a car, it became the centerpiece of countless treasured memories.
Donny was preceded in death by his son, Logan; his in-laws, Kenneth and Hilda Petesch; his aunt, Paula Duffy; and his grandparents.
The Rundle family extends their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at PCI Oncology and St. Luke's Hospice for their compassionate care.

Donny was a guy who could always make me smile, and he would make anyone feel like the most important person in the room. I will never forget Mrs. Losen’s class with him, it’s a wonder we ever got any assignments done. He was so proud of his family, and we continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers in the difficult time.
I grew up with Donny in Oelwein. Later in the 1980’s when I lived in Cedar Rapids for a few years I hung out with Donny Occasionally. Never once while Growing up, or later in Cedar Rapids was Donny ever unpleasant to be around! He was always fun, funny and just a very positive, decent human being. Deepest condolences to the entire Family.
We love you Donny!
I do not know if this is proper but I feel the need to tell more of DONS story. You see, I am his mother and I gave birth to him on Fathers Day June 20, 1965 after having two sets of twin girls in 1961 and 1963. His father Wallace said he would like a son, so I delivered. He was a good son and very loved by his 4 sisters, Lynn, Kim, Tami, and Teri. They spoiled him as we all did, he was very loved. He had his moments as all kids do, but he listened and learned. When he met Joan, we loved her right away and knew she was the one. They had 3 children that we loved so much, and we had 12 grands, and now 19 greats. We are truly blessed. We are so saddened he will not be with us any longer, infact, not sure how we all will endure it. Thank God we are a religious family, as we know God knows best. Thank you for all the wonderful words all have said about him and all the love and blessings you have sent us. May God bless you all and continue praying for him and us. WE will meet again. Barbara and Wallace Rundle

The ALL of the Rundle family-
I consider myself one lucky gal to have had the privilege of growing up with Donny. As kids, I remember riding our dirt bikes and catching little critters in the creek across from our house. Donny was a funny one from a young age. We kept in touch as we grew up. Donny would send random text messages that were ALWAYS positive and brought a smile and sometimes a laugh! He would send pics of himself and Vinny. He would always say LYA. I will keep those messages. They bring a smile to my face. With everything he has going on, he would be the first to send OTHERS uplifting messages. To Barb and Wally-you both did an amazing job raising he and the girls. I attribute Donnys strength and positivity to the way you raised him. I thank you for that. Donny’s legacy should be to live like Donny. Try your best to be “like Donny.”
I will miss him very much!!
My condolences to all of you.-Marni Stasi Heisler

Uncle Donny, I have so many memories of you back in the day when my Mom and I would go over to your older house to hang out. Every time, rain shine and snow, Donny would grab a football and say “Go long B!” and we would play catch for hours. Donny was an AMAZING Uncle to me. I could write a book with ALL the memories I have of him and I just being together playing ball and him constantly making me laugh. There was never a dull moment with him. He will be missed greatly!!! My heart goes out to all of you during this time of grief! Joan, Lucas, and Emily I love you so very much!!!
Stay Strong!!!

To Joan and the rest of the Rundle family–So sorry for your loss. Seeing his photo brought back memories of our little neighborhood gatherings on F Ave with the kids riding trikes and the adults having a beer and discussing whatever was the hot topic that week. It is a treasured memory. Take care. Big hugs!
