William 'Bill' Nost, 87, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Keystone Nursing Care Center, Keystone, Iowa.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Mount Vernon. A second visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Marion, Iowa. A luncheon will follow the service at the church, with burial at Lisbon Cemetery after the meal.
Bill was born November 20, 1937, in Mount Vernon, son to Gerald and Norine (Ellison) Nost. Bill enlisted in the United States Army in June of 1956 and was honorable discharged in June 1959. He was united in marriage to Janet Zahner on April 6, 1985.
Bill was deeply loved and known for his kind and friendly nature'he never met a stranger. He was also an avid collector of eagle figurines.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janet Nost; children, Patricia (Coy) Emmerich, Robert (Deanna) Nost, Melissa (Bill) Ainesworth, Jeff Yock, Peggy (Tyler) Wagner, and Duane (Kelley) Yock; siblings, Walter Nost, Richard Nost, Joyce Nost, and John Nost; and multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald (Frieda Bruce) Nost and Norine (Buster) Boat; siblings, Donald Nost and Cora Collins; and great-grandson, Aiden Beadle.
Memorials may be made to the family for a future donation made to a to be determined charity or organization.
